New Year, New Tools

Well, it's been nearly a year since we launched at PyCon US 2025. We've made a bunch of improvements, some visible (like WWW handling) and some invisible (like changing DNS providers). Today, I'd like to formally announce expansions to upload options!

First, as part of the continued rollout of our noAI strategy, I'd like to welcome to our human(ish) intern Christina. They describe themselves as "a porcupine who does code".

Without further ado, a new way to upload... 🥁🥁🥁

Swiss Army Upload

We have spent the last several months working on a new static site interaction tool, Swiss Army Upload. Eventually, it'll be able to work with numerous static hosting providers from a variety of contexts, but this week it reached feature parity with the existing Teahouse GitHub actions.

And by contexts, we mean it: we're using it for our own sites on GitHub and Forgejo, and it runs locally. Installable through Python, Docker, and Actions.

Did I say Forgejo? Yes I did! Forgejo v15 (such as Codeberg and git.gay) added features that allow us to easily add them as a supported pipeline.

More Forges!

In addition to GitHub, Forgejo, and local, the Teahouse servers have support for GitHub Enterprise and GitLab. We can also easily add support for CircleCI if anyone asks for it. Swiss Army Upload does not yet support GitLab or CircleCI, so watch that space.

And more serving features

We've also added a serving feature not yet exposed in any tools:

Teahouse supports arbitrary headers and status codes. Any file type, customized caching policies, CORS rules, HTTP redirects, the sky's the limit. Right now, the method to access these features is a little hacky—reach out to us if you're interested.

Eventually, this will be accessible through Swiss Army Upload.

Thank you

A couple of queers starting a paid static host in 2025 is a hell of a swing, but thank you to those that have trusted us.

There's several cool people that have not opted-in to be discussed, but I'd like to highlight two that have:

Here's to another excellent year! Tell your friends, the coolest place to be is The Teahouse.
